Blue Chalcedony is in the quartz family of minerals. Chalcedony has a waxy luster, and may be semi-transparent or translucent and is found in a wide range of colours, from white to gray, grayish-blue or a shade of brown ranging from pale to nearly black. It is a gem known since antiquity and mentioned in the writings from Ancient Rome and in the Old Testament.
